Work Group
Thank you for your interest in helping this Saturday!
Welcome! hopefully you have checked us out and have an idea what we are all about..

we are a nonprofit farm animal sacntuary
we mainly rescue and give a safe loving home to animals who have been passed up or passed over by everyone else

we have quite a variety of amazing creatures and stories.. I hope you will join us for the work group on Saturday
what I will do here is give a rough breakdown of some of the areas we plan on working on and you can get an idea of what sounds interesting to you!

Thank you!
MUSCLE..
We have begun a complete overhaul of our animal yards.. this consists of a great big mess right now!
we have heavy 20 ft long welded wire panels we are attaching to railroad ties and telephone poles
the holes must be dug appx 2 feet deep and 2 feet wide in terribly hard ground. this requires muscle and will not be in the shade..you will also be right in the middle of the goat yards.. they are curious and like to get in your way and nibble shoes, pant legs etc.. hair if they can. although there is no danger they are all friendly. too much so..
you should wear boots at least closed toed shoes and if you have work gloves and a shovel thats even better!

there are fence hazards as we are working within the very old failing fences as we install the new then the old will come down
PIGS
not for the faint of nose? or hearing?
We have a yard called our Special Needs yard which at this time is being shared by the pigs..

back in the spring we took in a homeless pig who was supposed to have been neutered and was not, long story short we had babies. several of them.. we are also in the process of taking over an old mobile and creating a barn and medical area there.. so there is junk.. trash, things the pigs have shredded all over! this is a two fold group..

1. cleaning, picking up trash, raking the yard of hazards and moving trash bins out of the yard

2. cleaning up after pigs who are currently indoors in their "maternity" area and have  made a large mess and the adjacent patio

3. holding cuddling and socializing baby piglets who will kick and scream but soon settle in and I can show you some hints and tricks..this is how we help them to be adoptable and get great families

alot of this group will be inside or under shade but also very loud and /or smelly

we can also always use help on the cleaning of the pig pools and yard
CLEANUP CREW
Most of the other groups will be within animal areas.. its very important to keep gates closed, dogs out and animals in.. so its best to have a crew on the outside, along the trail that goes around all our yards, so that other crews can pass off trash bins and junk to be dragged or driven to the trash areas. we are trying to get a rented roll off for the event but if we can't we will have a flatbed trailer to load up landfill items..we do have a quad with trailer that can be used and a couple of rakes and wagons..
Its a crazy place and a great big mess right now
but there is lots of love
and we do great work here
we are happy you are coming to join us
there is much to be done!

feel free to contact me with any questions

This is Buttercup
she is our 18 year old cow

Thank you!
There will be parking available just through the front gate however do not pull off the side of the road or driveway its very sandy and many people end up stuck! also we do have wire and nails and other hazards everywhere right now. Carpooling is recommended since there is limited space.
